BASIC INFORMATION FOR INVESTORS

Recently, this blog received request form small promoters and investors asking information to receive information about company. Individual investors express fear about own investment in own companies.

Though, I suggest them to get professional help from local company secretary or chartered accountant, if company secretary is not available in their locality. But a simple, Do It Yourself (DIY) may help them.

Whether a company is registered or not?

Ministry of Corporate Affairs registers all companies in India. In following step, we will help you to get this information. As site, does not allow users to stay idle for more than 2 – 3, first read this post fully.

Step 1

To get information about a company please click here or copy paste following link in your browser:

Though site is not good mobile friendly site, but this is workable. Some time above direct link may not workable, then click here or copy – paste http://mca.gov.in/MCA21/ in your browser. Go to “Services” at Menu Bar and select “company Master Data & Index of charges”. A new page will open. Here, on left hand side bar click “View Company Master Data”.

Step 2

Carefully enter first one or two words from name of the company against the field “Company Name”. Spelling should be as company claim in its name not as per your own spelling. Company sometime may have wrongly spelt word in its name. Click “Submit” button given in same row.

A new window will open with list of companies starting with words or characters entered by you. Select Radio Button given before your desired company and click “select” button. This window will close and you will land again to earlier window.

Step 3

Now, field CIN/FCRN is filled by system. Please click button “submit”.

If you already know Company Identification Number (CIN) and want to verify the company, you may directly enter this number against field CIN/FCRN and click button “submit”.

Step 4

Congratulations!! You have “Company Master Details” on your screen. You may take print or just note down required information. This window has following information:

1. CIN – Company Identification;
2. Company Name;
3. Registrar of company, which has jurisdiction on the company;
4. Company category; whether “limited by guarantee”, “limited by shares” or “unlimited”;
5. Sub – category; whether union government company, state government company, Indian non – government company, subsidiary of foreign company, company licensed under Section 25 (of the Companies Act, 1956) or Section 8 (of the Companies Act, 2013), guarantee or association company;
6. Class – Public or Private Company;
7. Authorized Capital in Indian Rupees;
8. Paid up capital in Indian Rupees;
9. Address
10. Listing status
11. Date of last AGM for which information is given to Government
12. Date of Last Balance sheet filled with Government

Prosecution details are prosecution filed my registrar of companies not all other prosecutions filed against the company. Therefore, no prosecution details on this page does not give clean chit to company.

Go to “Services” at Menu Bar and select “Register Digital Signature”. A new page will open. Here, on left hand side bar click “View Signatory Details”.

3. Present Residential Address,
4. Designation,
