The year 2020 is an unprecedented year of unusual era. Technology is helping us to survive. In an earlier post Virtual Reception, Lobby and Meeting Rooms, we discussed the process of online hearing in NCLT and NCLAT. Both Tribunals were till recently hearing urgent matters only. Now, Tribunals are switching to regular cause lists. With new normal, tribunals will hear matters in video conferencing mode.
The Circular/order dated 25th November 2020 issued by the NCLT, say that the NCLT Benches are now re-constituted to attend regular hearing through Video Conferencing with effect from 1st day of December 2020. The Benches shall hear the matters of respective jurisdiction as were hearing before lockdown (before 23rd March 2020). All matters including pending before lockdown shall be heard regularly on all working days. The Benches shall sit per Rule 9 of NCLT Rules, 2016.
Since 23rd March 2020, The Benches at NCLT New Delhi notified through its circulars new dates ten times: 3rd June 2020, 12th June 2020, 30th June 2020, 17th July 2020, 4th August 2020, 19th August 2020, 4th September 2020, 30th September 2020, 9th October 2020 and finally on 29th October 2020.
